Artist Statement
Since the rise of AI surveillance, there are now three selves: the self you perceive in your head, the self society perceives you as, and the self stored as data in the algorithm. How do we find ourselves in the algorithm, and what do we look like?
Research Process
My research dug into AI Surveillance, what datasets are shaping the AIs decision, and what data does the algorithm want to store about you. I wanted to use touchDesigner to give viewers a way to interact and see how an AI might be categorizing them.
Outcome
With 15 other artists, we collaborated with our curator, Mingyong Cheng, and designed our gallery showcase. The event took place at UC San Diego's Visual Arts Gallery and invited people from all over the university to enjoy the showcase, allowing our work to reach a new audience.
